5th Annual International Women's Day CelebrationFriday, March 11, 2005Photos from the 5th Annual Dia de la Mujer Internacional celebration, an evening of socially conscious word honoring the women who have been murdered in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The event took place on Friday, March 11, 2005 at Memorial Academy in Logan Heights. The 5th Annual International Women's Day Celebration was organized by the Red CalacArts Collective and featured performances by Amalia Ortiz (HBO's Def Poetry), Leticia Hernandez-Linares (Razor Edges of my Tongue), Irene Castruita (Los Able Minded Poets), Marissa Raigoza (The Central Chakrah Project), Sara Rebecca Duran Garibay (Red CalacArts Collective) and Liz Ochoa (Comite de Mujeres Patricia Marin). The 5th Annual International Women's Day Celebration. Organized by the Red Calacarts Collective and hosted by Memorial Academy. This event is part of Razafest and is supported by Poets and Writers, Inc. through a grant it has received from the James Irvine Foundation. c/s 2005 |
